Ever since Congress passed the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), we believe it the right of all children to receive the public education even if they have a disability. This includes early intervention, special education, and other related services. While a lot of states do have inclusion classrooms and Individualized Education Plans (IEP) a lot of schools do not have the levels of support to help children with disabilities and special needs.
You should not have to spend extra money to send your kid to a private insurance or private pay school that focuses just on special needs. Education is a fundamental right as outlined by the government. Luckily, just this July, the federal government has stepped in and plans to evaluate state’s efforts on implementation of IDEA on four levels – meets requirements, needs assistance, needs intervention or needs substantial intervention. Our goal is that all schools across the country will be IDEA ready!
